My name is Alex Flanagan and I am a self taught painter (not including GCSE and A level art which I did) and have been practising doing decorative painting since 2013.
I concentrate on 'faux' effects. Faux is the French word for false and is essentially the art of trying to replicate what occurs in nature be it from animal, mineral and man made surfaces.
I have tried a wide range of finishes but tend to prefer and have concentrated on a small handful which are trying to perfect!
My preferences in choosing an effect are those that have an antique 'feel' to them or were used in the heyday such as a no longer used quarry such as Porphyry or French Grand Antique, or in the case of animal skins the Tortoiseshells.
I have a lot of reference material and can source many modern and classical faux finishes and decorative techniques in general.
So, if there is a finish you are after please let me know.
